Measuring Patient Compliance
Measuring Patient Compliance
Solution
The patient should be asked for the percentage of time that they feel they are compliant with all prescribed medications or their prescribed diet plan. These are two separate questions. This is self-reported compliance and the patient will choose a range that most closely describes the percentage of time that they follow the prescribe medication or diet plan.
Prior to starting the rehabilitation program, ask the patients about their compliance with prescribed medications and diet since being diagnosed with heart or lung disease. At the post- program evaluation ask about compliance during rehabilitation. When patients return to the rehabilitation program for their follow-ups, they should be asked about their compliance since the completion of the pulmonary or cardiac program or since the last outcome evaluation.
