Solution Warnings

  • Be sure to have your serial number and license keys on hand before performing this operation.

  • Any data that you have entered after your upgrade will be lost in this procedure because you will be reverting to an older copy of your database.

  • Please read all the steps below before performing the operations so that you understand them prior to undertaking this task.

Instructions
To downgrade your Orion Outcomes installation, follow these instructions:

  1. When you did your upgrade, Orion Outcomes prompted you about a backup file that it would create prior to upgrading your data. Hopefully, you jotted that location down. If not, the file will be in the same directory as your currently in use Orion Outcomes database. To find this location, launch Orion Outcomes and go to the File->Properties menu. There you will see the database file that you are currently using (likely Outcomes.mdb). Note the directory that file is in. That directory will contain the backup we are looking for. The backup file will have a name such as "Outcomes - v3.01.bak". Basically, the same name as the file you are using with a dash and version appended to it and the file extension changed from .MDB to .BAK. Find this file and save it away to some place safe, such as your desktop.

  2. Uninstall Orion Outcomes from your computer. You can do this via the Add/Remove applet in the Windows Control Panel.

  3. Download the version of Orion Outcomes that you want to downgrade to. Get the Full Installer. The web page for download is http://orionoutcomes.com/support/downloads/

  4. Install the version that you just downloaded. You will need to re-enter your license information so have that on hand from your purchase.

  5. Move the backup file from step 1 to the Orion Outcomes installation directory that you choose in the prior step. Or if you prefer the database be on a networked location, place it there. For ease of use, rename the file to something simple, such as Outcomes.mdb.

  6. Start Orion Outcomes. When it prompts to create a new database or open an existing database, choose Open. Then select the file you worked with in the prior step.

You should now be back inside of your data with the version you downloaded. You can always verify the software version by going to the Help->About Orion Outcomes menu with Orion Outcomes.
