Orion Outcomes Enhanced With Custom Outcomes Option

Longmont, Colorado — July 16, 2003 — Orion Software Development, the leading provider of medical outcome software solutions, today announced a new add-on option for its popular Orion Outcomes software. Via a new add-on module, Orion Outcomes will allow for the definition of up to 48 custom outcomes (24 cardiac, 24 pulmonary). Previously, Orion Outcomes restricted customers to the use of only standardized outcomes. Custom outcomes cannot be benchmarked externally through the Orion Outcomes Benchmarking Service.

“Over the last few years as Orion Outcomes usage has grown, we have heard more and more customers say that they would like to have a way to collect specific outcome values that are of internal interest to their program within Orion Outcomes”, said Brandon Fuller, President of Orion Software Development. “Our hope is that by providing this functionality, we can empower our customers to test & create new and more efficient outcomes tools.”

Since customized outcomes are not for every program, Orion Software Development has chosen to provide the custom outcomes functionality as a separately priced add-on module as opposed to creating an upgrade charge for all customers. In these challenging economic times for rehabilitation programs, the model where customers pay only for functionality enhancements they require seems to be preferred by customers.

In version 2.5 of Orion Outcomes, customers will be able to utilize a preview of the custom outcomes add-on module at no additional charge. Customers will have the opportunity to create 2 custom outcomes (1 cardiac, 1 pulmonary) of their choosing to experience this new functionality.

Availability

The custom outcomes add-on is immediately available for $350 per Orion Outcomes site.

The service release of version 2.5 for Orion Outcomes with the preview of custom outcomes will be available near the end of July 2003.

Upper Plains Association Endorses Orion Outcomes as Regional Solution

Longmont, Colorado — February 2, 2003 — Orion Software Development, the leading provider of medical outcome software solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with the Upper Plains Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association (UPCRA), an organization comprised of multi-disciplinary members representing the field of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation across the states of North and South Dakota. As a result of the partnership, UPCRA has chosen Orion Outcomes as the outcomes standard for the states. Programs in the states will utilize Orion Software Development’s Orion Outcomes software either as a standalone data collection system, or in conjunction with one of the cardiac rehabilitation monitoring system manufacturers to facilitate outcome collection, analysis, and benchmarking in cardiac & pulmonary rehabilitation programs across the state.

“Although we have been tracking outcomes for several years now, we felt we needed to move to a database system rather than the paper system we were using”, said Margie Hair, RN, BS, and the UPCRA President. “Orion Outcomes tracks virtually the same outcomes we were tracking so it will be an easy transition. In addition to the outcomes we were tracking as a state society, each program will be able to choose other outcomes to track that will enhance the quality of their program.”

“Its clear that the broad appeal of Orion Outcomes continues to spread throughout cardiac and pulmonary programs”, said Brandon Fuller, President of Orion Software Development. “We are excited to have the endorsement of the UPCRA as a further testament to our goal of a national outcomes program.”

ABOUT UPCRA

The Upper Plains Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association (UPCRA) is an AACVPR-affiliate society with the purpose of promoting public understanding of the nature of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs and to encouraging the exchange of ideas and information between programs and professionals in the region and to provide educational opportunities for health care professionals and other interested parties.
Illinois Association Endorses Orion Outcomes as Statewide Solution

Longmont, Colorado — December 9, 2002 — Orion Software Development, the leading provider of medical outcome software solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with the Illinois Society for Cardiopulmonary Health and Rehabilitation (ISCHR), an organization comprised of multi-disciplinary members representing the field of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation across the state of Illinois. As a result of the partnership, ISCHR has chosen Orion Outcomes as the outcomes standard for the state. Programs in the state will utilize Orion Software Development’s Orion Outcomes software either as a standalone data collection system, or in conjunction with one of the cardiac rehabilitation monitoring system manufacturers to facilitate outcome collection, analysis, and benchmarking in cardiac & pulmonary rehabilitation programs across Illinois.

For benchmarking, Illinois will be contributing to the growing national cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation outcomes database run by the Indiana Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (ISCVPR). With over 35,000 patient profiles, the database currently has over 500 programs participating from 46 different states. “Over the last seven years, Indiana and Orion have worked diligently to provide a comprehensive outcomes program that has grown into the standard for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation,” said Steven Jungbauer, ISCVPR Outcomes Committee Chair. “We are pleased to officially welcome another state into the program. As Cardiac and Pulmonary programs across the country consistently measure outcomes with one outcomes program, the opportunities for growth and reimbursement are endless.”

“ISCHR is very excited about working with Orion Software Development”, said Laura Benson, MS, FAACVPR and ISCHR president. “We considered several options to take the place of our own state outcomes system, and Orion certainly had the best fit and is very cost effective. The use of Orion’s software reflects our affiliate’s goals to make a difference for both our state programs and the patients we serve. We look forward to showing that we provide quality programs here in Illinois and that our patients receive excellent care.”

ABOUT ISCHR

The Illinois Society for Cardiopulmonary Health and Rehabilitation (ISCHR) is dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, enhancement of communications between professionals, promotion of scientific inquiry and the advancement of education for the benefit of health care professionals and the public.
